Current Initiatives​

CLC Delco Contact

 

Multicultural Community Family Services (MCFS) has been awarded funding through the multi-year System of Care Expansion and Sustainability Grant, to assess the Child and Family Focus (CFF) Delco Contact Program. The Department of Human Services Mental Health and the PA Care Partnership grant established the Local Lead Cultural and Linguistic Coordinator (LLCLC). MCFS is the LLCLC community-based organization responsible for assisting Delco Contact Program management and staff with culturally and linguistically competent services, standards, and practices compliance. MCFS will work with the Delco Contact Program to establish culturally and linguistically appropriate goals, policies, and management accountability.

Department of Human Services and Community Supports

​

The Delaware County Department of Human Services officially announced that it has contracted with the Multicultural Community Family Services (MCFS) to implement a three-part professional development workshop series on the “Integration of Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity into Everyday Work.” Multicultural Community Family Services professional development orientation workshop series is designed for new hires and directors, managers, and staff from the Delaware County Department of Human Services, the Office of Veteran’s Affairs, Library Services, Housing and Community Development, and the County Office of Services for the Aging. The professional development orientation workshop series is composed of four (4) interconnected workshops that offer a pre and post survey to measure learning objectives and cover a comprehensive range of topics around diversity, cultural literacy, and the significance of inclusion in everyday work

Past Initiatives

Immigrant Opioid Initiative

​

The Immigrant Opioid Initiative was established through the leadership of Multicultural Community Family Services (MCFS) through the funds provided by the Department of Delaware County. MCFS partnered with various local immigrant-led and faith-based organizations in Delaware County and with the Dornsife School of Public Health at Drexel University to investigate the prevalence of opioids use and misuse, create awareness around the dangers of opioids misuse, and prevent opioids misuse within the immigrant communities. This educational initiative began in August of 2023 and was completed in December 2023.

Emergency Rental Assistance

 

Delaware County (DELCO), in partnership with Captial Access, launched the Delaware County Emergency Rental Assistance program (DELCO ERA) to help tenants behind on their rent and utility bills due to the COVID-19 pandemic. â€‹

MCFS, a member of the Delaware County Immigrant Coalition (DCIC), provided assistance to Capital Access by helping tenants with their ERA applications. MCFS provided eligibility screening, pre-registration, completion of the online application process, collecting & uploading necessary supplementary documents, checking case status for tenants, and filing appeals when required.​

Every year Multicultural Community Family Services (MCFS) hosts a 2-day, pro-bono citizenship day in collaboration with AILA Philadelphia chapter. DELCO residents, in attendance receive free application assistance, regardless of economic status. Fee waiver application assistance is provided for eligible residents. An information session and eligibility screening are held on the first day, followed by application assistance on the second day.

AILA's Citizenship Day​

Citizenship Day is a single-day nationwide event hosted by American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) chapters across the country and their local grassroots partners to provide free assistance to eligible legal permanent residents who wish to apply for U.S. citizenship.​
